Veterans Card - Victoria

The digital Veterans Card - Victoria entitles all past and present ADF members living in Victoria to discounts and benefits.

Concessions in Victoria

Victorian Government concessions

Concessions are available in Victoria for you and your family or carer. Concessions include but are not limited to:

  • council rates
  • electricity
  • gas
  • water
  • public transport
  • vehicle registration
  • taxi fares.

Travel options and concessions

Public Transport Victoria (PTV) offers travel concessions to eligible veterans and war widows/widowers.

Subsidised taxi fares are available through the Multi-purpose taxi program.

Free travel to attend commemorative events

You can access free travel on trains, trams and buses on:

  • ANZAC Day
  • Vietnam Veterans Day
  • Remembrance Day.

As veterans and war widows/widowers you are encouraged to wear your medals to receive free travel on public transport on the day. For members of the Australian Defence Force (ADF), wear your uniform or show your ADF badge.

Veterans Card - Victoria

All past and present ADF members can access discounts and benefits through the Veterans Card - Victoria. This includes:

  • $100 discount on the registration of one vehicle
  • free public transport on Anzac Day and Remembrance Day
  • free trailer and caravan registration
  • fishing licence exemption
  • free boating (marine) licences
  • access to Victorian Government veteran-specific employment programs.

DVA Veteran Card

Businesses may offer you discounts and benefits in recognition of your service when you show your Veteran Card. Businesses include:

  • travel and tourism operators
  • accommodation and car hire
  • entertainment

  • service and trade industries ranging from gym memberships to automotive mechanics and legal.

Bravery Trust

Bravery Trust provides emergency financial support and financial counselling for veterans who have an injury or illness because of their service, and their families.

Legacy

Legacy offers financial support where needed, to families of Australian Defence Force men and women who have lost their lives or their health because of their service.

Money Smart offers tools and tips to help increase financial wellbeing.

National Debt Helpline

National Debt Helpline offers tools and advice to manage your money and debt.

Financial counselling local support

Anglicare Victoria works with families to provide crisis support or long-term care.

Financial help for private renters

HousingVic provides financial help, loans, counselling and advice for private renters.

Gambling support

Gamblers Help provides free, confidential gamblers’ support (available 24/7).

Victoria Legal Aid helps Victorians with legal problems.
